Lowcountry Boil Dinner

Last week Will and I spent some time on Cape Cod with our respective families. The weather wasn't too great, but we managed to drink lots of wine and eat well. One evening we converged families and enjoyed a big dinner party hosted at my aunt and uncle's home in Yarmouthport. In attendance was my cousin and his girlfriend, James, the farm manager at Cape Abilities, and Will's family.

My aunt and uncle orchestrated a Lowcountry boil meal that was crowd-pleasing and seemed somewhat simple to pull off for a dinner party of 11 guests. They used this recipe as an inspiration but swapped the crab seasoning with Old Bay.

Using a large stock pot filled with water, they added in the seasoning, beer, and lemon and brought the liquid to a boil. Then they added mini potatoes, followed by sausage, corn, and shrimp. Old Bay and spicy ketchup were the perfect side-kick condiments. Served alongside a green salad, this Southern-inspired summer meal was a huge hit. I can't wait to try this recipe at home for my next dinner party.
