Colicchio & Sons

So I can't believe how awful I've been at posting, but as many of you know, I've been in "festival-mode" at work and was completely consumed. However, now I can breathe a little easier and catch up on all things, especially writing and dreaming about food.

For my 25+5 birthday, our dear friends Lynn and Bill gave Will and I a gift certificate for Colicchio & Sons. We've been for brunch (such a treat), but was looking for something special and delicious for a special celebratory meal. Colicchio & Sons did just that.

The restaurant is quite modern with vaulted ceilings, large format vases, and comfy, woven leather chairs. The staff and service is impeccable. Our head server Stephanie bent over backwards, walking us through the menu and guiding us in the right direction (you really can't go wrong though).

We arrived to find a personalized menu with a happy birthday wish. I loved this detail. We ate delicious and inventive dishes like foie gras with mango and lavender, and charred octopus with endive and chorizo vinaigrette, or this amazing 30-day dry-aged sirloin with fava beans, sunchokes, and beef cheek marmalade. We also loved the sweet pea agnolotti, and homemade donuts. I mean, let's be honest, we didn't have an unsatisfying bite. Flavor, texture, and deliciousness oozed and soared out of every taste.

After dessert, thanks to my best friend, Kelsey, we had a tour of the kitchen, which was pretty cool. The chefs were super relaxed and team appeared to be a well-oiled machine.

Our experience at Colicchio & Sons was everything I imagined and more. The attention to detail, preparation, execution, and taste are a treat for diners. I highly recommend visiting for your next special occasion.
