Roman Nose is an adorable mom-and-pop-style Italian restaurant run by a family who cares about quality food and friendly hospitality. Since we moved across the river, we've been to Roman Nose several times and even enlisted their catering services for a big shindig we hosted. Now that they have a wine and beer license, and built out an inviting marble bar, we find ourselves at this little gem a little more often. Oh, and did I mention their outdoor seating?

We usually order their pizza. We love the special roasted butternut squash, which if you manage to have leftovers, is a great breakfast pizza. Their plain Margherita is lovely too. They make their own mozzarella and their sauce boasts local, fresh Jersey tomatoes. Make sure to get a side of the homemade meatballs ($4). They are light and fluffy and crafted with veal, pork, and beef. They may be my favorite meatballs ever and go great alongside the house salad ($6).

Most recently, I had their special tagliatelle con saliccia, a homemade, egg pasta with pork and fennel sausage, and a light cream sauce with rosemary. This dish was killer and stood up better than Will's carbonara. The spicy sausage paired with the sweet cream and nutty rosemary danced in my mouth. Every bite sparked a "mmm." So good. Next time, I need to try their tagliatelle with crabmeat and a light lemon cream sauce, another special, which looked quite popular.

For our party, we loved the bechamel lasagna, pesto pasta salad, and orrechiette with broccoli rabe and sausage. The two trays of meatballs were also a big hit.
